EGOISM are childhood friends Scout Eastment and Olive Rush from the inner west of Sydney, who create dreamy emotional guitar pop. Scout and Olive taught each other how to write songs; running melodies and lyrics past each other on the bus to school. Self-described as “headphones on the train” music, they combine their dual lead vocals with introspective lyrics, pristine melodies and a trademark shoegaze influence. In 2019 they toured with Pinkish Blu, played BIGSOUND, were nominated for both Song of the Year and Next Big Thing in the FBi SMAC awards, and became triple j Unearthed’s 11th most played artist of the year. In 2020, the band released their debut EP On Our Minds and were announced as one of the recipients of Unearthed’s Level Up COVID Grants, and reached #11 in the community radio charts.
