With artists such as Popcaan, Burna Boy and Pa Salieu redefining the contemporary international hip-hop meta, Gold Fang is perfectly positioned to cause similar sonic shifts in Australia. Moving effortlessly between Reggae, Dancehall and Hip-Hop, Gold Fang is versatile yet unmistakable, able to seamlessly imbue any genre that he touches with a sonic fingerprint that is as distinctive as it is powerful. It is his undeniable presence and charisma - the intangible ‘aura’ that is common across all superstars - that has caused Gold Fang to be earmarked as one-to-watch, a ‘rising star ready to take the world by storm’ (triple j).  At the very core of this personality is the unique journey that has led Gold Fang to where he is today. Born and raised in Trinidad & Tobago, Gold Fang moved to Australia at the age of 17, driven by the wishes of his grandmother, Nora, who hoped it would provide greater opportunities than those available at home. At that stage, Gold Fang’s future looked remarkably different to what it does now, with pursuing a life as a professional sportsman being his key focus - having recently been part of Trinidad’s under-19 football squad and a prospect for inclusion in their Olympic race walking team.   However, not long after landing in Australia, his focus quickly shifted to music. Upon arrival, he joined members of his extended family who had established rich musical roots in Australia. His father, Errol Renaud, had established Australia’s first authentic reggae band ‘Un Tabu’ in the 1970s, and had since flown the flag for Caribbean music in Sydney via organising and performing at the weekly Sydney institution, Reggae Mondays.    It was there that Gold Fang’s confidence as a live performer grew, ultimately catching the eye of long-time friend and collaborator, Elliott Hammond, frontman for the Australian rock’n’roll band The Delta Riggs. This friendship provided Gold Fang with an entry point into the mainstream music community - allowing his natural talent, work ethic and charisma to be noticed.    In 2016, he joined The Delta Riggs on a nationwide album tour, providing him with greater experience as a professional musician and the network to take his next steps as a solo artist. In 2021, this culminated in a break-out feature on F-POS’ “Classic”, which landed on Spotify’s viral charts, netting over two million streams in its first year of release, alongside his debut release ‘Where Yuh From’, a collaboration with fellow Sydney artist Big Skeez.   This marked a period of prolific activity for Gold Fang as his accolades grew as a recording artist. In the same year, he signed to the Melbourne-based powerhouse NLV Records, releasing six solo records and a number of features in quick succession and with considerable acclaim. In doing so, Gold Fang has begun to capture the interest of the wider world - modelling for JD Sports and Adidas, and being commissioned by McDonalds US to write ‘Matter to Me’ to soundtrack their biennial global conference in Florida. Now, Gold Fang is gearing up for the next phase of his career - the release of his debut mixtape in late 2022 via NLV Records. In less than a year, Gold Fang has emerged as one of the most exciting prospects in the Australian music scene, and this shows no signs of changing. His versatility, personality and unmistakable vocals are undeniable as he fuses the sonic landscape and lived experience of his time in Trinidad with contemporary sounds reflective of his new life in Australia. A product of his roots, there is truly only one Gold Fang, and now he is ready to share it with the world.
