Munasib is your favourite artist’s favourite DJ, keeping company with burgeoning local talent and sharing stages with international superstars. The Australian-born, Bengali DJ/radio host and curator marks a sea change in Australian dance culture, reflecting the new wave of Australian art and South Asian excellence with sets that as easily include Bengali beats as Vince Staples’ ‘Norf Norf’. Her sounds have made their way across the seas and seen her performing internationally in Bali (HEADSTREAM, PRETTY POISON) as well as shows in Bangladesh (MIXMAG LAB, Breakfast Club), India (BOXOUT FM, JUNA, KRUNK), Sri Lanka (DOTS, TRAX) & Nepal. Based in Eora/Sydney, Munasib surrounds herself with good art and good curators as previous member of tastemakers Astral People and current member of South Asian creative collective Kerfew. ‘FOOTWERK’, national radio station CADA’s club show, was hosted monthly by Munasib and has featured guests from across the dance spectrum, such as Jyoty, Suchi and Soulection’s J.Robb. She was also the host of House Party on Triple J over the summer and the May Mixup resident. One of Australia’s finest curators, Munasib is the brains behind Spice Trail, which debuted last year at the Sydney Opera House with a star-studded lineup featuring Sid Sriram, Raf Saperra & Priya Ragu. She also hosted the first-ever Boiler Room which took place in Bangladesh over the summer in collaboration with DialedIn and also programmed (+ performed) at the first ever Mixmag Lab in Dhaka. Her most recent project with the Art Gallery of NSW sold almost 2000 tickets and was headlined by the likes of Jaubi (UK) and Gayathri Krishnan (LA).
