In line with stellar 2023 beginnings, as the duo stacked ‘Ones to Watch’ lists by the likes of Matt Wilkinson at Apple Music 1, NME and the Daily Telegraph, were announced for Groovin the Moo’s 2023 touring lineup and named Spotify’s latest RADAR Artist, Royel Otis now unleash their much-hyped Sofa Kings EP. Across seven tracks of sunny alt-pop, the pair take a progressive leap forward from the infectious melodies and quick-witted songwriting they are known for and land with a cleverly composed gusto. Already, the record’s singles “Kool Aid”, “Sofa King” and “I Wanna Dance With You” have received international and local press adoration from Paper Mag, Purple Sneakers, NME, consistent airplay from BBC Radio 1, Apple Music 1 and the status of Triple J’s #1 Most Played track.
To celebrate the release of Sofa Kings, Royel Otis will take to the road in July for their largest headline shows to date. On July 1 the band will spend Saturday night in Melbourne, taking over The Gasometer. The following week from Wollongong’s La La La’s the band perform on Thursday, July 6. Finally, the duo and their accompanying band play in their hometown, appearing at Sydney’s The Lansdowne on Friday, July 7.
