TOUR BIO

Rum Jungle are moving from strength to strength. The Newcastle locals released an EP in May and then SOLD OUT their ‘Everything Is Easy’ EP tour. They played a bunch of festivals including Maitland’s Groovin The Moo and Front Yard Fest in Canberra. Rum Jungle are back with a cruisy new single ‘Going Out Of My Way’ and a tour hitting regional towns up and down the coast, in support of the track. ‘Going Out Of My Way’ soundtracks the perfect lay day. Sitting on a hammock between the trees and sinking a few with friends during golden hour. It captures the band’s strengths in being able to deliver a summery feel good tune and showcase Benny’s vocals as the perfect balance of silky and raspy. The song came as naturally as the band’s warm dynamic. “We wanted something that felt nice and cruisy. Something you can blast in the car or live at a show. It didn’t have to have a whole lot of meaning.” Benny (Vocals) from Rum Jungle says. “The song came about when Maje and I were on the beers on a night in. Josh had an acoustic guitar and we were just having a bit of fun. After getting the first half of the tune together, we played it to Fraz who contributed the second half with big toes and windows”. The band recorded at Simon Dobson’s studio, Lakehouse, keeping that laid back vibe in the production. Fraz (Drums) says: “After sitting on the song for a while, we decided it needed a bit more energy. We recorded a bunch of additional stuff and messed around with it from our crunched home studio. Added dirtier guitars and a drunken chant in the back half of the song that reflected how this tune came about.” After a sold out national tour, Rum Jungle are headed back on the road to celebrate the release of ‘Going Out Of My Way’. Stopping off in regional towns including Yamba, Port Macquarie and Lennox Head as well as festival performances at Festival Of The Sun, Spaced Out and Never Had So Much Fun with Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers in the Central Coast.
